Web Design
A listing in the phonebook and a storefront are no longer sufficient in today’s market. Businesses need to reach a wider audience and appear professional, relevant, and current with a polished website that is easy to navigate and updated regularly. Whether selling the business itself or its wares, design and usability provide the initial opportunity for a business to make a strong first impression on potential customers or clients.

A website that provides a service to its user should provide content through regularly updated media easily accessible in a visually pleasing manner for the benefit of both the business and its users.

Built for a home repair company, this website highlights the services offered by the business, displays examples of the work it can accomplish, provides a map of the service coverage area, customer testimonials, and work request form. This is everything a small business needs in a professional package.

I designed the Stogiebird online store with a large eye-catching image and regularly updated the image highlighting the current monthly selections. Products in both subscription format as well as one-time purchase options are made easily available through this e-commerce site. Impulse add-on items are offered during the checkout funnel process to increase the total sale. A simple streamlined checkout process with estimated shipping cost, coupon option, and account management expedites ordering and reordering previous purchases with an integrated “address book” and “wallet” which maximized customer retention. Integrated social buttons make it easy for customers to share products, and a feedback area allows for product ratings and reviews which are accessible from search engines. An added securely encrypted online chat feature allows employees to help customers in real time with questions, issues, or offer them suggestions or discounts based on which pages they visit or what products they are viewing.

Bethel Lutheran Church’s website offers a service to the community. It provides all the services of a brochure website highlighting the details of the church’s hours, location, and offerings, and it also gives visitors to the site the content of the weekly worship services. Audio and video broadcasts are streamed as well as transcribed Bible readings and full sermons. There is a newsletter and calendar that the congregation can subscribe to, and a prayer chain that they can request addition to. Also featured is a password protected page for board members where meeting minutes as well as documents such as spreadsheets, estimates, and blueprints can be accessed and referenced prior to and during meetings.
